What about business opportunities in EVs

India does not have any worthwhile component industry for the EV powertrain or the charging infrastructure. No one manufactures Li cells in India and there are very few good quality battery packaging units. Less than 5 manufacturers have started making electric motors in small very quantities. However there seems to be rush of collaborations and tie-ups in the EV component space and very soon some “on ground” activities would be visible. Some known names are Sun Mobility for  battery swapping and powertrains, Acme for battery charging /swapping, Li-technologies for charging, Bosch for motors. Maruti is setting up their own Li battery plant

There is therefore huge potential in the area of batteries, motors and electronics provided the promoters have the risk appetite and can handle the uncertainties of the EV business.
