Great Choice.

A very interesting thing we can see here is the car uses a very high voltage system. Almost 800V.

There are many reasons why this is done.
Since it's a performance sports car, one reason could be to reduce the weight of power cables they went with 800V as the current draw would then be less for the same power output.

Is there an inverter needed in the drive unit?
No, Nissan Leaf uses a DC-DC motor .

Is there a high voltage DC-DC converter on-board the vehicle?

What type of cooling methodology is used? - Passive air, active air, active liquid?
Passive Air Cooling .

Any other interesting observations you'd like to share?
Nissan gives a 8 year warranty on battery

 Good Car Choice.

Since the car is powered by a Synchronous Motor, it will need some kind of inverter to operate it. A synchronous motor requires sinusoidal AC to operate which is created by switching the DC voltage through a 3 phase inverter bridge.

They have a new model out as well which has a more powerful motor and larger battery pack.
